Used Ping Drivers for Seniors

Ping names its drivers in a way that trips up almost everyone shopping for a slower swing. The suffix is the specification, and the one most people assume is theirs is not.

How Ping names its drivers

The model name on a listing is most of the specification. This is what each part of it means.

Before you buy

Two things to expect from Ping on the used market. Its stock skews stiffer than the category does, so soft flexes are scarcer here than the brand's size suggests. And HL barely reaches the used market at all, so if one appears it deserves more attention than its price tag suggests.

Ping model names and what they mean
Name	What it means
MAX	The forgiving head, the one that is kindest on an off-center strike. It is not the light one.
LST	The low-spin head, built for the fastest swings in the game. The one to walk past.
SFT	The draw-biased head, worth a look if you fight a slice.
HL	High Launch: a lightweight build applied to those same heads, and what most golfers arriving here are actually after. A G440 MAX and a G440 MAX HL are different clubs with nearly the same name.

What turns up used
